2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible with Video

General Motors will finally start selling the eagerly awaited 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible sports car; the car will be available in February 2011.  The Camaro convertible has been in the works since the coupe went on sale but has been getting delayed because of GM’s financial trouble.

The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro convertible looks a lot better than the coupe, because of the high belt-line of the coupe it just looks plain weird and the interior feels very cramped.  The convertible is on par with the Ford Mustang when it comes to styling, the Mustang is the best looking car out of the three muscle cars from Detroit.

We all know when a manufacturer chops off the roof from a car it loses a lot of rigidity and sportiness.  GM has tried to keep the handling of the convertible as close as possible to the coupe by reinforcing four key areas in the car.  They included a tower-to-tower brace in the front of the car, front and rear under body V braces, an under body tunnel brace and a reinforcement brace for transmission support.

The convertible comes with a cloth folding top that opens and closes in about 20 seconds and comes with a one piece tonneau cover (standard on the 2SS and 2LT trims and optional on 1SS/1LT).

The 2011 Camaro convertible will be equipped with the same engines offered on the coupe versions which include a 3.6 liter V6 with 312 horsepower and a 6.2 liter V8 with 426 horsepower.  The cars will come with a standard 6-speed manual transmission and an optional 6-speed automatic transmission.

The convertible Camaro will be available in 9 different colors with either a black or tan folding roof.  Prices for the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro convertible will start at around the $30,000 mark.

I've been writing about cars for the last 8 years, but I've loved everything with an engine since I was a kid. I'll take the sound of high revving naturally aspirated engine over music, any day! Favorite Car: Porsche Cayman GT4
