Old Meets New: Morgan 3 Wheeler

Morgan-3-WheelerSomething out of the past and reprieved in the future. Morgan has re-introduced their 3 Wheeler, which they produced from 1909 to 1953. Looking like a Morgan car, chopped in half with a motorcycle engine in the front, is very nostalgic and appealing to the eye.

Powering the new Morgan 3 Wheeler is a V-twin fuel injected engine from S & S that produces 115 horsepower. A 5-speed manual transmission from Mazda with a reverse gear helps move this 1,102 pound (500 kg) Morgan. A Harley Davidson engine producing 100 hp was to be used originally but plans changed. A good idea as 15 extra horsepower is always helpful.

Morgan-3-Wheeler-InteriorWhen you look at the Morgan 3 Wheeler, it resembles a WWII era airplane. That’s exactly what Morgan was going for. The press presentation model was dressed up as a WWII fighter plane. According to Morgan, customers can choose from US and British military inspired logos. Customers can also choose from a shark nose, Morgan wings, oval racing numbers and stripes, checkered winner’s hood, and official national flags.

The interior has an airplane like feel with leather padded cockpit with aircraft instrumentation. Customers can also choose from polished cowl, stainless steel tail pipes, headlamps, roll hoops, and a polished engine, but of course at an extra cost.

The Morgan 3 Wheeler will make its debut at the Geneva Auto Show, with sales follow soon after. You can pick up this beautiful and nostalgic Morgan 3 Wheeler for around $40,000 USD. They will also be available for purchase in North America.

I've been writing about cars for the last 8 years, but I've loved everything with an engine since I was a kid. I'll take the sound of high revving naturally aspirated engine over music, any day! Favorite Car: Porsche Cayman GT4
