You want a sports car that can go really fast and the 0-60 times is below 5 seconds? But you’re a family man or need to drive around clients, so you should get a mid-sized luxury sports sedan…but you also need to do a bit of off-roading once in a while. Well you could get another vehicle, but that’s just too much of a hassle. How about you get the new Range Rover Sport SVR SUV?
The Range Rover Sport SVR has plenty of room for four adults; it can go off-road with ease, and is very fast. How fast is it? Well, it’s the fastest SUV around the famed Nurburgring race track, with a best lap time of 8 minutes and 14 seconds, and it’s the fastest production Land Rover vehicle ever.
The 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR is powered by a supercharged 5.0 liter V8 engine, which is found on many of Jaguar’s high performance vehicles like the XKR, F-Type R etc. In the SVR, the engine produces 550 horsepower and 501 pound feet of torque, sent to all four wheels via a tuned 8-speed ZF transmission. The 0 – 96 km/h (0-60 mph) takes only 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 260 km/h. Not too bad for a heavy off-road vehicle.
Other than the more powerful engine, the exterior and interior styling is pretty much the same. The front bumper does have bigger air intakes and the SUV is now equipped with four very bolstered racing seats to keep the occupants in place. The Range Rover Sport SVR also comes with a two stage exhaust, one for normal driving with normal sound and the other with a lot more sound, to get attention, or for driving around the track.
The 2015 Range Rover SVR will have a starting price of $110,475 in the United States, no word on how much it’ll cost in Canada but expect to pay more.
