Video: Ferrari Explains the FF’s Four Wheel Drive System

Ferrari-Four-FF-4WD-System

The all new Ferrari Four (FF) has had a love it or hate it effect on most car enthusiasts.  I kind of like it, I think it might be a pretty sexy car in person, might have to pay a visit to our local Ferrari shop to check it out.  Ferrari has already sold out the first year’s supply, so I might have to wait until next year.

The FF comes with Ferrari’s first Four-Wheel-Drive system and now Ferrari has released the video below to explain how the system works.  The 4RM system weighs 50% less than conventional 4WD systems and it still gives the car 53/47 front to rear weight ratio.  When there is plenty of grip all the power is sent to the rear wheels, only when the system detects loss of grip, power is sent to the front wheels as well.

I’m not going to pretend to know things about this highly technical system and only true tech geeks will appreciate/love the video.  The video below explains the system better than I could ever hope to.

I've been writing about cars for the last 8 years, but I've loved everything with an engine since I was a kid. I'll take the sound of high revving naturally aspirated engine over music, any day! Favorite Car: Porsche Cayman GT4
