German car tuning firm Carlsson brought one of their coolest creations to the Geneva Motor Show. The car, called C25 Royale, is based on the Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG. The Royale is one of the better tuned cars I’ve seen this year.
The Royale will be produced in a limited number of 25 units, it takes Carlsson six months from the time an order is place to delivery date. The lengthy time frame is dues to the heavy modifications the SL 65 AMG receives; the tuned version is almost unrecognizable.
Carlsson installed a fixed roof instead of the SL’s hardtop convertible; the roof is entirely made out of carbon fiber for reduced weight and lower center of gravity. The C65 Royale is 397 pounds (180 kg) lighter than the SL 65, the weight reduction comes from carbon fiber hood and carbon-ceramic brakes, in addition to the new roof.
The Carlsson C25 Royale is powered by the AMG bi-turbo V12 engine that now produces 753 horsepower and 973 pound-feet (1,320 Nm) of torque. The end result is a blast to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 219 mph (352 km/h).
The car is equipped with a new sports suspension called C-Tronic Suspension; it detects road conditions and adjusts itself to best cope with the situation. On rough roads, the suspension automatically raises the car for maximum comfort.
The interior can be customized at the owner’s request and features carbon fiber and aluminum trim and body colored leather trim.
The Carlsson C25 Royale is a pretty sweet looking supercar; I really like what they’ve done to the car especially on the sides and the rear. All this incredible customization does come at a cost; you’ll have to pay €429,000 plus taxes etc. to own one.
