The British automotive industry was once thriving, with a lot of boutique car builders making some very interesting and some very attractive cars. The industry went bust decades ago and one of the victims of the downfall was Jensen automobiles. The company dates back to 1934, creating some awesome sports cars, the company went out of business in 1976. There were a few attempts to revive it but they all failed.
But now the company is coming back to life (supposedly), they presented us with a car that’s nowhere near completion, it’s not even a concept car, rather a clay model of a car but it still looks good. The car is the Jensen GT, which is a 2+2 coupe with classic styling. We don’t know that the finished product would look like in metal, but it looks pretty attractive so far in clay, minus the Jaguar F-Type taillights.
The Jensen GT coupe will be powered by a heavily modified GM-sourced 6.4 liter supercharged V8 engine producing 665 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque. Power will be sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
On paper the Jensen GT sounds like a good package, it has a good looking retro design and a massive amount of power. Will it see the day of light and will it be relatively affordable, we hope so.
