The British publication AutoCar got a chance to drive the brand new Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4’s mule tester and of course it made us very jealous but maybe 10 years from now we will be invited to test out the new V12 offering from Lambo.  Although the name hasn’t been finalized yet, one thing is for sure, the car will be replacing the Lamborghini Murcielago and will be launched in March 2011 and it will be awesome.

A little information on the 2011 Lamborghini Aventador, it will be powered by a 6.5 liter V12 engine that will produce around 700 – 750 horsepower and over 500 pound-feet of torque and will be mated to a 7-speed Independent Shifting Rod (ISR) automated manual transmission.  The ISR transmission shifts gears 50% faster than the already fast shifting dual clutch transmission.  Power will be sent to all four wheels, just like the Murcielago.

That’s about all the information currently available on the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4.  We will bring you more info as we get closer to the launch date, for now enjoy the pictures of the Aventador test-mule below.

I've been writing about cars for the last 8 years, but I've loved everything with an engine since I was a kid. I'll take the sound of high revving naturally aspirated engine over music, any day! Favorite Car: Porsche Cayman GT4

  2. Trust me, we’re excited too. We can’t wait for it be released and finally given a proper name whatever it may be, Aventador, Jota, or just LP700-4.
