Below is another cool video of the lucky Mr. Jay Leno playing around with the Hennessey Venom GT on his show Jay Leno’s Garage. The Hennessey Venom GT is a mid-engine, rear wheel drive car powered by a 6.2 liter LS9 V8 engine from the Corvette ZR1. The engine has been modified and uses twin-turbos to produce 1,200 horsepower at 18 psi. The car weighs less than 2,700 pounds, making for one of the best power to weight ratios in the world.
The car is designed by Hennessey but uses the Lotus Elise/Exige as a base in order to keep development costs down. The end result is a Lotus Exige look-a-like that has been to the steroid shop. The Venom GT is equipped with a 6-speed Ricardo transmission and is able to accelerate to 60 miles per hour in only 2.2 seconds with a top speed of 262 mph (421 km/h).
The Hennessey Venom GT will be produced in a limited number, only 10 per year and will cost $600,000.
