Oh no, Porsche is making all electric cars now, at least they’re just Boxters (for now). Porsche announced they have produced three Boxter E prototypes that will be roaming around in the city of Stuttgart over the next few months so that Porsche engineers can get an understanding of the electric motors and how they work in the real world.
Not many details were provided by Porsche but we do know the Porsche Boxter E will be powered by a pair of electric motors, one at each axle, making it an all-wheel drive Boxter. The electric motors will provide 18 kW of power which is equal to 241 horsepower and will use a 29 kWh battery pack which is said to have 100 mile range before you’re out of juice and calling a tow truck.
