The all-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe made its debut recently and we knew it was just a matter of time before car tuning companies got their hands on the coupe and improved its performance and looks.  This time however, it was Mercedes-Benz’s in-house tuners AMG that tuned the coupe to bring us the C63 AMG Coupe.

The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe will be unveiled at the New York Auto Show next month, it looks identical to the C63 AMG Sedan with two missing doors and of course a slanted roof.  Power comes from a 6.2 liter V8 engine that makes 451 horsepower and 443 pound-feet (600 Nm) of torque.  Power is sent to the rear wheels via an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-Speed transmission, helping propel the C63 AMG Coupe to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).  An optional AMG Development package is available which ups the horsepower to 481 ponies and reduces the 0 – 60 mph time to 4.3 seconds.

To handle the added power a new sports suspension, wider front and rear track, high performance braking system, sharpened steering, and bigger wheels and tire package was thrown into the mix.  The interior has been upgraded a bit to set the C63 AMG Coupe apart from the standard C-Class Coupe.

The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe looks like a winner, it has good looks and lots of power, and it should give BMW M3 a run for its money.  We’re looking forward to M3 vs. C63 AMG Coupe comparisons in the upcoming months.  No word on price yet.

I've been writing about cars for the last 8 years, but I've loved everything with an engine since I was a kid. I'll take the sound of high revving naturally aspirated engine over music, any day! Favorite Car: Porsche Cayman GT4
