Not available in the North American market, the VW Golf R is a potent little hatchback. The Golf R is powered by a 2.0 liter turbo 4-cylinder engine that produces an astonishing 270 horsepower and 258 pound-feet (350 Nm) of torque in stock form. The Golf R sprints from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.7 seconds. However, if you’re looking for even more performance from your hot-hatch, you need to make a call to German tuners MR Car Design.
MR Car Design has a package called “MR6R” for the VW Golf R that ups the power to 330 horsepower and 347 pound-feet (470 Nm) of torque. They haven’t released the 0 to 60 mph numbers but we’re sure it’ll be fast. Another option from MR is a set of 19 inch emotion wheels and H&R sports springs. The package with the rims and springs will cost €699, which is not bad for the amount of added power you get.
My only concern with the MR Car Design VW Golf R is that is a front wheel drive car with a lot of power, it will be a handful to drive and the torque-steer could be pretty bad.
