The newest contender in the super car market, the McLaren MP4-12C’s price has been released and is set to cost €200,000 in Germany and £168,500 in the United Kingdom. McLaren hasn’t announced prices for the U.S. market. The MP4-12C will go on sale in Europe in spring 2011 and a total of 1,000 cars will be produced in 2011.
The McLaren MP4-12C is powered by a twin-turbo 3.8 liter mid-mounted V8 engine that produces 592 horsepower and 443 pound-feet (600 Nm) of torque, the engine has been developed in-house. The MP4-12C weighs only 2,866 pound (1,300 kg) thanks to being mostly constructed out of carbon fiber. According to McLaren, the MP4-12C should be able to do the 0 – 62 mph sprint in under 3.0 seconds and reach 124 mph (200 km/h) in less than 10 seconds with a top speed of over 200 mph (322 km/h).
The McLaren MP4-12C will be offered in 17 exterior colors and will come with 14 different interior trim variations. The company will also offer performance upgrades which will include lightweight forged wheels, carbon ceramic disks, polished calipers, and a sports exhaust system to disturb the peace in rich neighborhoods.
