Belgian Supercar – Gillet Vertigo .5 Spirit

Gillet-Vertigo-SpiritBelgian car manufacturer Gillet has unveiled their latest supercar, the Vertigo .5 Spirit.  Not sure what the “.5” means?  Does it mean its half the car that cars it’s competing with?  Anyways, according to Gillet the Vertigo .5 Spirit is described as “…pleasure of driving sensations in a work of art object.”  Not really sure what that means either; because when I describe something as a work of art, it means it’s beautiful.  And the Gillet Vertigo will certainly never be accused of being beautiful, at least in my eyes.

Aside from the weird name and looks of the Vertigo, other numbers are impressive.  The car’s chassis is made out of carbon fiber and the entire car weighs only 2094 pounds (950 kg).  The Vertigo is powered by a 4.2 liter Maserati V8 engine producing 420 bhp, which should make this a very fast car, no performance figures have been released by Gillet.  The V8 is mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox and the car rides on 19 inch wheels.

The entire car is customizable to a customer’s desired specifications (interior and exterior).  The Gillet Vertigo .5 Spirit should be a great performance car albeit on the ugly side.  No word on price yet but they say it should be priced well below other supercars.

I've been writing about cars for the last 8 years, but I've loved everything with an engine since I was a kid. I'll take the sound of high revving naturally aspirated engine over music, any day! Favorite Car: Porsche Cayman GT4
