American car tuning firm STaSIS Engineering recently tuned the Audi R8 V8 coupe called the STaSIS Challenge Extreme Edition; it produces an impressive 540 horsepower. The additional 120 HP is achieved with the installation of an Eaton/Magnusson TVS 1900 supercharger, an independent charge cooler system, and a re-mapping of the factory ECU. A new stainless steel exhaust system was also installed for reduced back pressure and better sound.
The new horsepower numbers may not seem too impressive to some but keep in mind that the new Audi R8 V10 produces 530 horsepower in stock form. Torque has been increased as well from 350 pound-feet (475 Nm) to 435 pound-feet (590 Nm).
To cope with the added power, STaSIS Engineering also upgraded the suspension and installed lowered springs while still keeping the factory “Drive Select” system. Larger high-performance brakes and 20” light weight wheels with high-performance tires were also added.
The added power and improved suspension, while increasing weight by only 33 pounds (15 kg), results in a 0 to 60 mph time of 3.6 seconds. That’s 0.8 seconds faster than the stock Audi R8 V8 and 0.1 seconds faster than the V10 model.
Customers can buy the Audi R8 V8 STaSIS Challenge Extreme Edition as a complete package or buy individual pieces. Prices have not been announced yet.
