All New Maserati GranCabrio Sport

Maserati-GranCabrio-Sport

Our favorite Italian Grand Touring car gets a bit leaner and meaner with the all new Maserati GranCabrio Sport.

The new for 2011 convertible gets 450 horsepower (up from 434) from its 4.7 liter all-aluminum V8 engine and produces 376 pound-feet (510 Nm) of torque.  The GranCabrio Sport can now reach a top speed of 177 mph (285 km/h) and uses 6% less fuel.  The V8 is mated to a ZF 6-speed automatic transmission that uses software borrowed from the Quattroporte GT S sedan, resulting in quicker gear shifts.  Skyhook active suspension has been added for better handling and drilled dual-cast disk brakes for improved stopping distance.

The exterior gets very small upgrades with blacked-out grill, new front corner splitters, smoked headlights with clear side-markers, and redesigned side skirts.  The biggest exterior upgrade would have to be the addition of a new exterior color called “Rosso Trionfale”, which was inspired by the red Italian national color from 1950’s Maserati race cars.

The Maserati GranCabrio Sport will be available in the summer of 2011.

I've been writing about cars for the last 8 years, but I've loved everything with an engine since I was a kid. I'll take the sound of high revving naturally aspirated engine over music, any day! Favorite Car: Porsche Cayman GT4
