The latest generation Porsche 911 Turbo (997) is a favorite amongst car enthusiasts and is one of our favorite cars as well.  Its fast, handles great, reliable (compared to other super cars), and looks pretty good.  German tuner Vorsteiner decided to improve the looks even further and also reduce the Porsche 997’s weight for improved handling.

Vorsteiner took a used 2007 Porsche 997 and called it the V-RT Edition, the engine hasn’t been touched and the car produces the standard 480 horsepower and 457 pound-feet (620 Nm) of torque from its rear mounted 3.6 liter twin-turbo flat-6 engine.  Achieving a 0 to 62 miles per hour time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 193 mph (310 km/h).  All of the attention was paid to the body of the Porsche 997, with better aerodynamics and reduced weight in mind.

The Vorsteiner Porsche 997 Turbo V-RT Edition is fitted with a newly designed front bumper that is made out of carbon fiber composite (CFRP), the bumper includes bigger air intakes for the front radiator and is missing the fog lights for better aerodynamics and weight reduction.  The rear features a new sleek looking carbon fiber bumper and a massive carbon fiber rear spoiler mounted on the carbon fiber trunk lid.  The roof panel has been replaced with carbon fiber, which reduces weight by 55 pounds (25 kg) and also lowers the center of gravity.  To complete the weight reduction program and improved styling, light weight one-piece aluminum mono-block wheels and Michelin PS2 tires have been put on the Porsche.

The Vorsteiner Porsche 997 Turbo V-RT Edition is being sold at a price of $99,500 and has 8,500 miles on the odometer.  Not a bad price considering Vorsteiner claims to have spent (or the price of the kit) $57,815 on the body modifications.

I've been writing about cars for the last 8 years, but I've loved everything with an engine since I was a kid. I'll take the sound of high revving naturally aspirated engine over music, any day! Favorite Car: Porsche Cayman GT4
